Buy your solar equipment from anywhere, and get it installed professionally.
From equipment in hand to a professionally installed system.
Buy your panels, inverter, and battery from several different retailers, or purchase a complete kit. Try to find a deal or promotion — we have AgentSolar Deal Hunter running 24/7, which you might find useful. Include shipping fees in your total cost — many retailers show a low price but charge a lot for shipping.
Make sure what you bought is compatible. Most retailers offer a free consultation on equipment selection — use their free service, but don't get pushed into a purchase until you're satisfied. Or use the AgentSolar Chatbox, trained on solar knowledge to answer better than general-purpose AI. And confirm the return policy before you buy, so you can send anything back if it turns out to be the wrong equipment.
Tell us what equipment you have and your installation address. Share it however is easiest — type it into the form, paste the links to what you bought, upload a PDF, or forward the order email.
We'll also ask a few things about your home and roof, plus the paperwork side — who pulls the permit and whether you have an electrical plan set (the wiring design). Not sure about some of it? No problem — we'll help you sort it out.
We'll review your equipment details — and likely go back and forth a few times to make sure everything's right.
Then we send the install request to nearby installers on your behalf. We start with on-file installers we’ve already vetted and partnered with. If they’re not available, we widen the search — always to a certified installer with a proven track record.
It works a bit like Uber: we send the request to one installer at a time. If the first doesn’t take it — or their crew is booked up right now — it goes to the next, until we find the right match.
Once an installer accepts, they price the job. We review that price to make sure it’s reasonable and at market rate — we won’t let them overcharge you. If everything looks good, we bring it to you for review.
You review the installer and their install price. If it all looks good, you sign the agreements and pay securely — everything transparent and agreed up front, no surprises.
It’s common to be missing a few parts — the right wires, connectors, a junction box, a handful of bolts. In most cases the installer reviews what you have, buys what’s missing, and bills it before or after the install. Anything under $500 total, they simply buy and bill it — that term is spelled out in your agreement. For anything pricier, we’ll check with you first.
Once the permits are approved and everything’s ready, the installer sends a professional crew to install your system — mounting, wiring, inverter and battery setup, inspection, and utility interconnection.
You don’t pay the installer directly all at once. AgentSolar holds your payment and releases it on your behalf in phases as the work is completed. A typical schedule is 25% to begin the install, 50% once the system is installed, and the remaining 25% after utility interconnection.
You buy the equipment. We take on the risk of getting it installed — and stand behind it.
We commit to getting your system installed within the timeline we agree on. If an installer stalls, we line up another at no cost to you. And if we ever fail to get it installed, we refund every dollar you paid us for installation — including funds we’ve already released. Yes, that means we take the loss if we can’t deliver what we promised. You’re never left stranded with equipment and no crew.
Every crew is licensed, certified, and has a proven track record. We never send someone we haven’t checked.
We review every installer’s quote against local market rates and push back if it’s too high. You won’t get overcharged.
Your money is held and released in milestones as the work gets done — start, install, interconnection. Funds are never paid ahead of the work.
Submitting a request and getting matched costs nothing. You only pay once you’ve reviewed and accepted an installer.
Many won't — and it helps to know why. Installers usually make their margin on the equipment they supply or the brands they partner with, so a labor-only job is less appealing to them. Bring-your-own-equipment also comes with real headaches: parts that don't match, missing components, and a lot of back-and-forth. That's exactly the work we take off your plate — we check compatibility, track down missing pieces, and coordinate with the installer so the job is clean and worth their while. Some installers do take these on, and we connect you with the ones who will.
Just the big-ticket items: your solar panels, an inverter, and a battery if you want storage. You don't need to track down every last wire, connector, or junction box. Your installer sources those smaller balance-of-system parts from local suppliers and bills them to you with receipts. Anything under $500 in total, they simply buy and add to your invoice; if it comes to more than that, they'll check with you before installing — so there are no surprise costs.
Permitting starts with a plan set — the stamped electrical and structural design your city needs to approve the job. If you bought a plan set and permit package from your equipment seller, you work with them to pull your permits. If you didn't, our partnered solar design engineers prepare the plan set and permit package for you. Once the paperwork is in order, we find an installer to do the work and handle the inspection sign-off.
You do — it's your system. You bought the equipment, you pay for the installation, and it goes on your home, so you own it start to finish. The permit is pulled under the self-installation (owner-builder) category in your name. In states that don't allow owner-builder permits, it's pulled under the licensed installer's contractor license instead — which usually costs more, since the contractor takes on the added responsibility and liability for the permitted work.
Yes — installers stand behind their work with a workmanship warranty covering the installation itself: the mounting, wiring, and connections they perform. The length varies by installer, and we'll make sure you know the exact coverage before you sign. Your panels, inverter, and battery are not covered by the installer or AgentSolar — that equipment isn't part of the work performed under this contract and is covered by the manufacturers' own warranties. The installer also does not promise how much electricity your system will generate — neither its day-to-day output nor its production over the years. Actual production depends on your equipment, roof, location, and weather.
It depends on your system size, roof, and location — but the real test is your total cost. When you get the installation quote, do the math: add what you paid for equipment plus the install, and it should come out well below a full-service deal, where one company handles everything from equipment to inspection and marks up every piece along the way. Once we match you with an installer, they quote the installation so you can run the numbers.
We're typically faster than regular installers, because we only find installers who have availability sooner. Horrible stories like an installer ghosting after the contract is signed are less likely with our service, because you're not stuck with one company for your installation. We move fast and replace them. Also, your payment stays with us and is released by milestone. In the worst case, AgentSolar refunds your money, so at least you don't take a monetary loss.
Tell us about your equipment and where it needs to go. We'll match you with a local installer and be in touch — no account needed.
